THE ROLE:

As a Senior Data Engineer at Athletic Greens, you’ll be responsible for creatively solving challenging problems as part of a fast-paced, rapidly growing team. This role will have ownership over projects to build large scale, machine learning, data underpinned digital products. The successful Senior Data Engineer will see their work applied across multiple business functions and tackle problems at scale in greenfield projects that have high visibility, and immense impact for internal stakeholders and external customers. You should be comfortable starting from scratch and building for the future; starting small, but thinking about large scale architecture and ever evolving data sets, like business KPIs, social media or online sources.

Reporting to the Director of Data Engineering and Architecture, you will work with an immense amount of data in a fast-paced and high-energy environment where system performance matters. You will be encouraged to advocate for improvements in quality, security, performance, and other various domains for our entire technology portfolio during a period of once in a generation hyper-growth.


WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Architect and develop scalable, repeatable, and secure data pipelines that can serve multiple users and applications.
  • Design, build, and own the core data models and key infrastructure to manage data and usage across our Snowflake account with an emphasis on Sales, Finance, and Security.
  • Facilitate data ingestion from a variety of sources, get it into the right format, ensure that it adheres to quality standards and downstream users can access it quickly.
  • Participate in the full project life cycle (initiation, requirements gathering, development and implementation).
  • Build and test business continuity and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and identify the root causes of any and all data delays and inaccuracies to provide proactive monitoring and ensure automation is in place.
  • Oversee data security and best in class data access protection procedures.
  • Identify poorly running SQL and implement changes to correct issues.
  • Create monitoring jobs and health checks to ensure data quality.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Approximately 6+ years of experience as a Data Engineer/DWH Developer.
  • Expert-level knowledge about modern data structures, data models and processing techniques.
  • Extensive experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery are a plus.
  • Proficiency in Python (pandas, numpy, airflow, flask).
  • Intermediate to advanced level scripting in SQL for data wrangling and reporting.
  • Experience developing APIs (if possible with async experience).
  • Experience or interest in developing web applications and interactive user interface.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and who is comfortable navigating complex projects and assignments, across various platforms and within different business segments of the organization.
