The mission of The New York Times is to seek the truth and help people understand the world. That means independent journalism is at the heart of all we do as a company. It’s why we have a newsroom that’s 1,700 strong and sends journalists to report on the ground from nearly 160 countries. It’s why we focus deeply on how our readers will experience our journalism, from print to audio to a world-class digital and app destination. And it’s why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it’s worth paying for.

At The New York Times, we use data to make better business decisions, improve the quality of our journalism, and provide the best possible experience to our readers. To enable this, we have built and continue to evolve our data platform. As we grow our analytics and data science capabilities, we need to grow and improve our platform to support new challenges and opportunities.
The Governance and Infrastructure group, consists of two teams that builds infrastructure and tooling to enable data ingestion, transformation and governance platform capabilities. Our mission is to enable data producers and consumers to create and manage data products of any complexity autonomously. This platform empowers everything from ML-based products to important reports and dashboards, and we must meet an extremely high bar for security, privacy, and data and system reliability.
