About the Job

Life360 collects and processes several hundred billion location points, over a hundred billion user events, and billions of miles driven on a monthly basis. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will contribute to building, maintaining, and evolving our data processing and storage pipelines/workflows for our enterprise data consumers. You will also help build and evolve the development, test, and release tooling and automation that drive efficiency and efficacy across the Data Engineering function. You should have a strong engineering background and, more importantly, a desire to take ownership of our data systems and drive to make them world-class.

What You’ll Do

• Drive efficiency and efficacy in the data system development lifecycle through development of tools that enforce consistency and support automation for development, test, and release functions. 
• Design and develop resilient data processing pipelines using a variety of open-source technologies.
• Take ownership of core enterprise data assets (location data), becoming the subject matter expert for these data assets across the organization.
• Manage enterprise data from ingestion through transformation to delivery, in batch and near real-time.
• Architect logical and physical data models to align with the needs of the business.
• Test, harden, and automate new and existing data workflows.
• Actively support and optimize the operation of the data ecosystem.
• Provide innovative solutions to challenging data projects and proofs of concept.
• Be a key member of a fast-growing data team handling massive scale through sophisticated processing and automation.

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 4+ years of experience working with high volume data infrastructure.
• Extensive programming experience: Python/Java preferred. 
• Experience building tools and automation for software development, test, and release functions. 
• Proficiency with open-source development tools and frameworks
• Experience with AWS-based data-related services.
• Experience in data modeling, writing optimized SQL, and system performance tuning. 
• Experience evaluating industry trends and technologies. 
• Continuous learning to stay up to speed in the fast-moving big data world.
