Stanford School of Medicine Human Resources Group seeks a dynamic and forward-thinking Workforce Analytics Director to join our team. You will report to the Sr. Director of Organizational Effectiveness, as part of the team responsible for employee experience, engagement, leadership development, learning operations, JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion), and workforce analytics within a dynamic and distributed work environment.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Develop and implement a progressive talent analytics strategy aligned with our organization's strategic priorities and JEDI efforts.
  • Design and implement an organizational governance structure for workforce data and analytics, collaborating with cross-functional teams across the organization.
  • Drive new data collection and refine existing data sources, ensuring reliable and consistent data availability for ad hoc and longitudinal inquiries.
  • Analyze problems, question existing processes and assumptions, gather data, evaluate alternative solutions, and propose the best action.
  • Communicate and visualize informed conclusions and recommendations to influence our organization's leadership structure, telling the story behind the data.
  • Interact with and influence senior leaders, faculty, and stakeholders on key business questions.
  • Collaborate with other organizations to gather data and proactively seek external benchmarks to support decision-making.
  • Mentor and supervise information analytics staff, providing guidance and direction on project work.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

To be successful in this role, a Director, Workforce Analytics should have a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of HR and workforce management practices. Additionally, they should possess a solid background in statistics, data management, and data visualization tools, along with experience working with HR information systems and other HR technology solutions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

  • Bachelor’s degree and seven years of extensive, relevant experience or combination of education and relevant technical field experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • In-depth knowledge of University administrative organization, policies, procedures, and practices for institutional research-oriented roles.
  • Facility in manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources.
  • Extensive experience in and strong passion for empirical research and answering hard questions with data.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey findings and broad trends to a variety of audiences and positively influence senior leadership & faculty.
  • Ability to use data retrieval and manipulation tools such as SQL, Brio Query, Business Objects and the like along with visual data tools to present data clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced proficiency with statistical tools such as SPSS, SAS, R or similar tools.
  • Ability to tell stories with data using data visualization software such as Tableau, Excel, SPSS, or similar software in conjunction with strong verbal ability.
  • Ability to use visual data tools to clearly articulate data to non-technical audiences.
  • Flexible analytical approach crafting multiple options with supporting arguments for the same goal and allowing for results at varying levels of precision.
  • Facilitation skills to conduct meetings to achieve the desired outcome and manage projects within time constraints.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit, sort, file paperwork or parts, grasp lightly, and use fine manipulation, lift, carry, push and pull objects that weigh 10 pounds or less.
  • Occasionally write by hand, twist, bend, stoop and squat.
  • Rarely stand, walk, reach or work above shoulders and use a telephone.

The expected pay range for this position is $107,000 to $171,000 per annum (remote). Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
