The Role

As an integral member of our Data Engineering team, the Analytics Engineer is focused on surfacing strategic problems, building technology and analytics solutions, and preparing data to be transformed into actionable recommendations.

You will focus on creating best practices and building the right tools to get clean, consistent data to the stakeholders to that stakeholders that need it, when they need it.

This role comes with the freedom to explore different initiatives and methodologies for data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and Business Intelligence platforms and would work across the organization alongside stakeholders in our business units to understand how the data platform can be leveraged to solve business needs.. As an early hire, the Data Analytics Engineer will be instrumental in establishing our data infrastructure and should be prepared to identify and optimize the proper tools, features, and processes to refine our data organization.

Your Impact

Three months into the role, you’ll...

  • Work alongside our Database Architect to manage data warehouse selection and deployment

  • Extract data from 3rd party platforms, transform and clean data, and ensure accuracy and quality of data in order to track shipping, logistics, and fieldwork process for all live projects.

  • Tackle ad hoc data requests as needed to help diagnose issues that arise.

  • Work with stakeholders to create dashboards containing a mix of data visualizations and tables that help identify the areas of refinement and opportunity along the account management process.

Six months into the role, you’ll...

  • Own the creation and integration of automation tools to support the data needs of stakeholders around the company.

  • Have a clear understanding of high level company growth KPIs, and be efficient in sourcing data for strategic collaboration.

  • Lead the charge on data best practices, including documentation and training for anyone who consumes data.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally, working with Product, Client Success, and Community teams to refine feature roadmap according to ideal processes and workflows that lead to product success, process efficiency and high data quality.

A year into the role, you’ll...

  • Have built a reliable and well-oiled data machine that ingests data sources and delivers key insights to analysts and business stakeholders.

  • Be thinking about how to build a data organization that scales, and be planning for the new requirements that our next stage of growth will bring.

  • Have crafted an ongoing experimentation program, pushing the boundaries of making our processes more modern, efficient, scalable, and reliable. 

You have:

  • A BA or BS degree in engineering, data science,statistics, or a related field from a 4-year university

  • 3+ years experience in a related field, preferably in a startup environment or on lean teams, and technical experience with SQL and at least one programming language like Python or R.

  • Experience managing data warehouses like Redshift, Snowflake etc.

  • Hands-on usage of ETL/ELT tools like Fivetran, Stitch, and/or dbt

  • Managed a modern BI tool or stack like Looker or Mode

  • An understanding of software engineering best practices, like version control and testing, and how to apply them to analytics code

  • A keen eye for efficiency and the experience to know how and when to optimize internal processes with no-code automations and integrations

  • An eye for detail and fundamentally believe that well-structured available data is a key to business success

  • Flexibility and agility in responding to evolving business priorities and embracing new roles and responsibilities

  • Eagerness to learn, commitment to getting 1% better everyday and openness to feedback
