Yahoo is looking for a versatile data enthusiast with excellent business sense, outstanding analytical skills, a proven ability to communicate analytical findings, and rich experience in leveraging various data sets. We are responsible for providing fast, clean, and relevant data for key measurements and insights about the users of Yahoo.

 

This individual contributor role will report to the Business Intelligence Manager of Content Commerce Analytics and will be mainly responsible for Editorial, Content, Operations and Product Analytics support. This person will be working directly with the Commerce Product Managers and Content Commerce Editorial internal stakeholders to deliver reports and actionable insights, while driving data-led decisions that inform Yahoo News Group’s commerce strategy.


 

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Analyze end-to-end performance of commerce content across multiple Yahoo products (News, Engadget, AOL, In The Know, Autoblog and more) to understand traffic trends, content consumption and user behavior from the first click to the last. 

  • Act as the Business Intelligence lead for multiple squads in an agile work environment and provide stakeholders with insights and data according to each of their needs.

  • Support the Commerce Product team by analyzing how new and existing features/modules/pages are performing

  • Support the Content Commerce team with weekly, monthly & quarterly performance reports on what content performed well

  • Monitor data quality issues, partnering with other teams to surface gaps/inconsistencies

  • Present and communicate performance results and findings to various stakeholders at all levels

  • Support ad hoc analyses coming from leadership and other key stakeholders within the company

  • Research market opportunities in commerce using third-party data sources such as Comscore, SimilarWeb, Shareablee, Data AI, Emplifi, etc.

Basic Requirements (Must Have)

  • Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred) and experience in digital analytics and insights delivery

  • 3+ years of experience generating actionable insights that aid data-driven decisions in building great products with great user experience

  • Experience using web/mobile analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics

  • Proficient in data visualization tools such as Google/Looker Studio, Tableau, Domo, Looker or similar tools is a must, including report automation

  • Expert knowledge of SQL is needed

  • Proficient in Google Suite/MS Office

  • Strong analytical skills and quantitative mindset with understanding of basic statistics

  • Proven track record and enthusiasm for complex problem solving and analysis, including working with large data sets and advanced knowledge of Excel and/or Google Sheets

  • Experience conducting analyses across Digital Content and/or Product teams.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to craft and present data-driven analyses and insights to articulate performance and opportunities to key stakeholders

  • The ability to work across multiple disciplines with both data and non-data focused people alike

  • A hands-on attitude. Someone who is not afraid to dig into technical/instrumentation issues and won’t be stopped until they find the right solution.

  • Ability and enthusiasm to work in a fast-paced environment where deadlines can sometimes be tight and stakeholder needs immediate.  

  • Self-motivated and results-driven.

  • Media industry experience is a must

Desired Characteristics (Preferred)

  • Master's Degree in Business, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Marketing, MBA, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance

  • Extensive experience collaborating with Product and Engineering teams

  • Knowledge of market analytics tools (Comscore, SimilarWeb, etc.)

  • Experience in programming languages such as Python or R

  • Experience collaborating with UX Research/Design teams in order to dig deeper into consumer preferences and behavior

  • Team player in driving growth results combined with a positive attitude and high emotional intelligence

  • A Yahoo fanatic

The compensation for this position ranges from $84,750.00 - $176,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
