About the job

Twilio is growing rapidly and seeking a Product Data Scientist who is responsible for leveraging the 360° of information we collect using our own Segment platform, to understand what makes someone discover us and come to love our product. You’ll collaborate with teams on the front lines of our business, from engineers to UX designers and marketers. You’ll create models, design experiments, and develop perspectives that help us drive customer acquisition and activation. As a “data person at a data company”, you’ll be given a unique ability to define and share best practices in using hypothesis-driven reasoning to grow a company.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • BE AN OWNER: Work with marketing and growth teams to define how they measure and track towards their success. Use your knowledge and the power of data to inform day-to-day operations, as well as company-level strategic decisions
  • DRAW THE OWL: Design experiments and interpret results to draw informed and actionable conclusions. Implement predictive models; collaborate with data engineers and operations teams to productionize your work.
  • BE BOLD: Creatively leverage new and existing data to identify business opportunities others have missed.
  • EMPOWER OTHERS: Interact extensively across all functional teams within Twilio. Influence cross team initiatives and mentor junior engineers. Raise the bar on team performance.
  • NO SHENANIGANS: Ensure the consistent exercise of appropriate judgment and discretion in evaluating opportunities, conducting due diligence, and maintaining transparency.

Required:

Twilio is looking for an data scientist who lives the Twilio Magic and has significant experience in data manipulation, modeling and storytelling. You are an ideal candidate if you:

  • Naturally frame your work within the scientific method: hypothesis generation, experimentation, and iteration
  • Can synthesize and communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences
  • Have strong business acumen
  • Are enterprising and empathetic with your customers
  • Have at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative or technical field
  • Have 4+ years of work experience in either an analytical/scientific role, or in a growth-focused position at a startup

Location 

This role can be remote in the US.

Colorado applicants: 

  • The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $120,160.00 - $150,200.00
  • Non-Sales: Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
