About the job

This position is needed to strengthen our existing team working on various data science, machine learning based SMS message delivery solutions to optimize Twilio’s SMS message routing near real time. You will help us build a globally scalable system to make the optimal delivery route choices for customers SMS messages, covering a multitude of different use cases.   

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Build and maintain scalable machine learning solutions in production environments
  • Train and validate mostly statistical-based models considering use-case, complexity, performance, and robustness
  • Develop a deep understanding of the “why” behind our models & systems
  • Partner with product managers, tech leads, and stakeholders to analyze business problems, clarify requirements and define the scope of the systems needed
  • Participate in the development backlog grooming and estimation processes
  • Contribute to the solution design and feature ideas, betterments  
  • Work with data platform teams to build robust scalable batch and realtime data pipelines
  • Work with software engineers to ship and maintain ML models and products based on them
  • Maintain and evolve high engineering standards on the team through mentoring and knowledge sharing
  • Evolve engineering best practices around code reviews, automated testing and monitoring

Required:

  • 3+ years of applied ML experience
  • Solid background in the foundations of machine learning
  • Track record of building, shipping and maintaining machine learning models in production
  • Track record of designing and architecting experiments and analysis to inform product roadmap
  • Understanding of frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras, what and how these frameworks do what they do
  • Familiarity with ML Ops concepts related to testing and maintaining models in production such as testing, retraining, and monitoring
  • Experience with modern data pipelines and storage, messaging, and processing tools (Kafka, Apache Spark, Hadoop, Presto, DynamoDB etc.) and experience in designing and coding with big-data components
  • Readiness to participate in the on-call rotation
  • Experience with working in an agile team environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience

Desired:

  • Experience with working on cloud ML platforms as offered by AWS, Google, Azure
  • Knowledge of building blocks of modern deep learning techniques

Location

This role will be based remotely in Estonia.

Travel
