Your Impact:

Handshake is hiring a Data Engineering Manager to lead a growing data engineering team. In this role, you will be supporting the development of Handshake’s data platform by managing a team that is building data architecture, defining data governance practices and delivering data solutions throughout the company.

Your Role:

We're focusing on innovating Handshake’s data offerings, while constantly improving our technical foundation. We’re excited for you to work on:

• Leading, coaching, and inspiring our data engineers within the organization.

• Motivating and ensuring the timely, quality-focused delivery of new features and projects

• Ensuring the team’s growth by ensuring the right processes are in place, facilitating efficient communication, and hiring the right talent to fill in the gaps.

• Partnering closely with key stakeholders across Handshake, including Product Development, Analytics, Data Science and others.

• Leading with empathy as you help us nurture a culture of growth, inclusion, and belonging.

Your Experience:

• Proven track record in leading a team to ship features and products.

• Prior experience in managing distributed teams. The data team at Handshake is 100% remote.

• Experience managing high-output data engineers.

• Experience managing (or working closely with) machine learning or relevance engineers

• A background in data engineering - the ability to understand the team’s technical challenges and architecture is the key to success.

• Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, etc.).

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Excellent people management skills, focusing on supporting empowerment.

• Passion for helping teams and individuals grow and for building an inclusive culture and diverse team.

Compensation Range: 

$154,660 - $176,000
