Restaurant365 is adding a Director of Data Engineering & Analytics to enable the flow of information across the organization and help drive critical business objectives forward. In this role, you will lead our corporate data and insights team to build and operate the enterprise data and analytics platform. This is also a highly visible role that will directly partner with business stakeholders in delivering insights, analysis, and executive reporting.  You will have the exciting opportunity to build a team and the modern data foundation that enables the data-driven culture to fuel the company’s growth. This is a hands-on player-coach role that will report to the VP of Enterprise Technology and Insights.

How you'll add value:

    • Work across technology and business teams to develop a vision and execute a roadmap that enables the scaling and transformation of data and analytics capabilities for the company.
    • Create strong business partnerships and learn our business processes to deliver innovative data solutions to drive business performance.
    • Implement modern data platform architecture, guiding decisions from a deep understanding of data engineering, data science, public cloud computing.
    • Develop data engineering pipelines using repeatable software development processes, quality assurance, release management, and monitoring capabilities.
    • Establish an automated observability framework for ensuring the reliability of data quality, data integrity, and master data management.
    • Partner closely with peers in Product, Engineering, Enterprise Platforms, and InfoSec teams on the shared enterprise needs of a data lake, data warehouse, semantic layer, transformation tools, BI tools, and machine learning.
    • Accountable for delivering all platforms, products, and services with operational excellence and rigorous adherence to ITSM process and InfoSec policies.
    • Partner with leaders and data stewards in the organization to establish operating committees for data governance, project portfolio, and an analytics community of superusers.
    • Partner cross-functionally in enterprise and domain-level Data Governance programs and initiatives that ensure integrity, security and usability of data products and services
    • Embody and evolve an Agile delivery model for data engineering and analytics solutions.
    • Lead with accountability as your authentic self with empathy, transparency, and mentoring.
    • Embrace ambiguity and other duties as assigned.

What you'll need to be successful in this role:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equally relevant degree or an equivalent combination of education and applicable work experience
    • 10 years of technical experience in enterprise data warehousing, data engineering, business intelligence, and delivering analytics solutions.
    • 3 years in an engineering leadership role, mentoring a team of data and analytics engineers and analysts
    • Industry experience preferences from the technology sector (SaaS, software, B2B) or restaurant sector
    • A hands-on technical leader comfortable in both player and coach roles on the team, and comfortable managing remote teams onshore and abroad
    • Deep understanding of current technologies and design patterns for data warehousing, data pipelines, data modeling, analytics, visualization, and machine learning
    • Solid understanding of modern distributed data architectures, data pipelines, API pub/sub services
    • Prior experience leading an enterprise-scale data warehouse program from the ground up, planning and implementation through continuous operations
    • Experience managing SLA-driven data operations with responsibility for uptime, delivery, consistency, scalability, and continuous improvement of data infrastructure and business solutions
    • Ability to understand and translate business requirements into analytic solutions and be a subject matter expert in business data analysis
    • Extensive experience with Agile development methodologies
    • Prior experience with at least one: Snowflake, BigQuery, Synapse, Databricks, or Redshift
    • Experience with cloud administration and DevOps best practices on AWS and GCP and/or general cloud architecture best practices, with accountability cloud cost management
    • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills, with the ability to relate technical solutions to business terminology and goals effectively and concisely to executives, team members and others
    • Strong remote team leadership qualities with ability to work independently and across many time zones and outsource partners
