Job Description
Join our remote team as a Data Governance SME in support of a federal customer where you can share inventive ways to support federal clients modernizing their data practices. You will play a key role in developing and implementing data governance strategies, policies, and processes.
Position Duties:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
- Define data ownership, stewardship, and accountability within the organization.
- Assess the relationship and overlap of new data governance controls.
- Identify key stakeholder groups for each phase of the data life cycle.
- Support the development and maintenance of data catalogs.
- Establish data quality standards and monitor adherence to these standards.
- Perform research to ensure data governance practices comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Develop Impact Assessment Reports on new and updated legislation and regulations.
- Provide guidance and training to teams on data governance best practices and propose policy ownership.
- Draft outreach and training materials around data governance.
- Collaborate with the business to ensure alignment of data governance with overall business goals.
Qualifications
Required Skillset:
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience in fields of data governance and data management
- In-depth knowledge of data governance frameworks, data management principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience assessing the impacts of legislation and regulatory requirement changes.
- Experience with data quality tools and processes.
- Strong understanding of data classification, encryption, and data protection methods.
- Excellent communication, both written and oral, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with data governance tools and platforms.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Desired Skillset:
- Experience working with the Federal Government.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Experience working with Agile Teams utilizing Scrum.
- Relevant certifications are a plus.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other technical field of study or commiserate experience
Clearance Requirement:
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship Required
