About the job

This position is needed to craft and deliver models as well as contribute to the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Twilio’s AI/ML messaging products and services. 

Twilio is looking for a Senior Applied Data Scientist to join the Data Science & Growth product team of our Messaging business unit. You will understand the needs of our customers and build products and algorithms that solve that need at a global scale. Working side by side with other applied data scientists, product managers and engineering counterparts, you will collaborate to craft and deliver on the vision, strategy, and roadmap for our AI/ML messaging products at Twilio.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Be the voice of the customer in every conversation and decision, and ensure we build world class products that our customers love and value.
  • Own the models, product strategy, roadmap, and release cadence for a major part of Twilio’s AI/ML products. 
  • Support the engineering team in delivering quality features efficiently, and your global go-to-market team in selling them. 
  • Get your hands dirty, align executives, convince peers, and coordinate dependencies to get-it-done.
  • Seek out unique points of view to deliver products that reflect the global population and make communication more inclusive for all.

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of working as a Data Scientist, ideally focused on experience building customer-facing cloud products for businesses or developers.
  • Experience owning and deploying models from conception to production, as well as managing how and where these models fit into a broader suite of product offerings. 
  • Experience working in an agile/SCRUM development process with globally-distributed teams and customers, occasionally working non-standard hours.
  • Advanced level proficiency with with SQL, Python and Statistics.
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently.

Desired:

  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics or equivalent.
  • Experience with mathematical optimization.
  • Experience managing products/services in the identity verification, authentication, fraud, messaging, or telecom spaces, and building reporting, insights, BI, or analytics features.
  • Experience working with GTM and direct sales teams, marketing, and defining pricing/packaging.

Location

This role will be based from Estonia on a remote basis. 

Travel
