Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and document advanced data analytic models in support of healthcare industry actuarial product and consulting initiatives
- Lead the discovery and development of new methods and models using a broad range of data modeling and analysis techniques
- Build machine learning models for predictive analytics while assuring fairness and equity
- Provide recommendations and guidance to project leads based on insights gleaned from data
- Build modeling pipelines to automate the running of analytic models
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with our broader product teams, while supporting ad-hoc analytics where needed
- Active role in training, coaching and mentoring staff within methodology and in other functions

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of data analytics experience, or 3 years of such experience plus an advanced (Masters, PhD) degree in a relevant field
- Experience deploying code in a production environment using Github
- Advanced proficiency in Python, Scala, or SQL
- Proven solid written and verbal communication skills and experience interacting with senior management
- Proven solid leadership skills and demonstrated ability to lead product initiatives in order to achieve team goals and outcomes
- Proven well versed working in Agile methodology / Kanban (End to End managing the user stories within the sprint)
Preferred Requirements:
- Masters or PhD degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
- ASA or FSA actuarial designation, or progress towards completion of ASA designation
- Experience with the Snowflake platform and enterprise-level applications
- Experience deploying data science models in a production setting
- Experience working on large scale, multiple team projects
- Automate test cases for development experience
- Unix Scripting experience
- Experience and/or exposure in dealing with health care claims experience (i.e. understanding of costs, expected claims, diagnosis codes, procedure codes)
- Experience working with Data Science/Machine Learning libraries such as h2o, TensorFlow, caret, Keras, scikit-learn, etc.
- Experience building robust data pipelines using a variety of data sources, programming languages, and toolsets
- Hands-on experience in one or more big data ecosystem products/languages such as Spark
- Experience in applying optimization procedures (gradient, genetic, ant colony) to a large data set
- Acquired knowledge of healthcare pricing of groups sized 51+
- Advanced proficiency in PySpark using Azure Cloud
- Advanced proficiency in model presentations using Tableau / Power BI
- Proven track record of delivering robust and scalable analytical applications in a cloud environment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
