Our Research & Analytics team is hiring a Staff Data Scientist to join our Metrics Intelligence working group! The Metrics Intelligence working group is focused on increasing the actionable insights gained from understanding and tracking key metrics.
In this role, you will implement scalable approaches to analyzing, tracking, alerting, and reporting on a broad set of strategically important product and business metrics. You will work with data scientists and business analysts (from various business groups) to understand, synthesize, and communicate evolving trends in product usage. You will work with senior leaders throughout the company to inform and influence decisions based on your understanding of metrics trends.

Conducting regular investigations into trends in broad Slack usage
Synthesizing and communicating key insights from regular investigations to a broad audience of stakeholders, including executive leadership
Implementing scalable methods for tracking and generating insights from a large and evolving portfolio of product-based KPIs
Applying various data science methods to understanding core aspects of our product, users, and business
Promoting effective usage of metrics in the internal operations of Slack’s product team
5+ years of professional industry experience doing quantitative analysis
An advanced degree (MS, PhD) in a quantitative field (e.g. Computer Science, Economics, Physics) is a plus
A proven record of informing strategic business decisions, ideally in a product organization
Experience analyzing, modeling, and forecasting trends in business metrics or other time series data
Experience communicating findings from data analysis to an executive audience
Experience with SQL and at least one general programming language (e.g. Python)
An advanced understanding of statistics and analytical best practices
