About the Role

The business strategy and analytics team is looking for a driven and innovative Senior Product Data Scientist, to drive both our ads monetization strategy and our creator strategy.  It will require you to both be an advocate for our creators and readers in creating and reimagining what it means to share and consume knowledge as well as tuning our free logged out experience to optimize between value to the reader and value to the business. To succeed, we must be able to help creators get readers and help readers find content from creators. In this critical role, you will lead the reimagining of the product that powers this marketplace. We are looking for a data scientist who thrives on having large ownership over a product 80M people use a month, is comfortable navigating uncharted territories to uncover customer needs and translating that into compelling strategies, and demonstrates excellent ability in creating and executing A/B testing strategy with thoughtfulness and urgency.

You Will:

    • Alongside the Senior Product Manager for creator and the Senior Ad Tech Product manager you’ll help craft a compelling vision and strategy to drive years of customer and business impact.
    • Set goals for both ad performance and creator features by focusing on controllable inputs and helping the team ladder that up to company goals like revenue.
    • Set up our ads reporting strategy in partnership with the business intelligence developer by clearly stating requirements and data pipeline needs.
    • Do discovery analysis on creator performance, including partnering with user research to tie quantitative findings to qualitative reasons.
    • Design A/B tests to balance between impact and learnings and analyze the tests to provide a recommendation to the agile squads in direction forward.
    • * Ads business will be quick iteration A/B testing
      * Creator A/B testing will focus on learning initially and focus on solving creator centric problems
    • Continuously monitor progress against our OKRs and make adjustments as new information comes in. Frequent communication with stakeholders on how we’re progressing against our goals, learnings we have, risks we foresee and where we need support from the organization.

You Have:

    • User empathy to deeply understand what problems our users are experiencing, business acumen to decide which are the right problems to go after, and creative problem solving to deliver innovative solutions to our readers and creators.
    • Analytical skills to understand how our readers and creators are using our products, features and tests that can inform future strategy decisions.
    • Technically proficient to cross the aisle with the engineering team to work collaboratively on strategy and execution.
    • Ability to manage up and across to get alignment and drive influence. We need the support of many teams, including eStaff, to execute on our strategy.
    • Able to create an energized, high functioning, empowered team that enjoys what they do and who they do it with.
