About the Team
The mission of the business strategy & analytics team is to ensure the entire company understands business performance and trends, and to empower all business teams to make good decisions with data. We partner with marketing on strategy and positioning, and we manage the announcement of product launches, updates, and major initiatives. It's our job to maximize Scribds potential by delighting our readers and helping our company grow. Scribd is seeking a senior data scientist to develop and implement data-driven strategies to optimize our paid marketing campaigns.
About You
You are a curious person who is highly analytical, loves solving ambiguous business problems through exploratory analysis. You have a growth mentality and are excited by a fast paced environment. You have great business intuition that helps you create actionable insights, focusing on user experience, impact, and learning from data.
You Will:
• You will be a key player in partnering with paid marketing stakeholders to understand, prioritize, design and marketing spend optimizations.
• You'll be the driving force behind the data-driven decision-making process, helping shape our marketing strategy.
• You'll have frequent communication with stakeholders and leadership on how we're progressing against our goals, learnings we have, risks we foresee, and where we need support from the organization.
• You will communicate complex statistical concepts and insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining models that will help forecast and optimize paid marketing performance.
• You'll be working on exciting projects such as building customer LTV models, mixed media modeling, optimizing channel investments, and implementing incrementality measurement.
• You'll be providing support in media strategy, measurement, and optimization to help achieve our marketing goals.
You Have:
• Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a data science role.
• Experience with marketing research and statistical modeling (e.g., bayesian methods, causal inference, regression modeling, classification models, Markov chains, forecasting).
• Experience with conducting quantitative analyses and research.
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python and R.
• Expert in SQL.
• Experience with data visualization tools like Looker, Tableau or Power BI.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Plus if you have experience working in paid marketing.
• Plus if you have experience with Looker and LookML.
At Scribd, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role, level, and geographic location. San Francisco is our highest geographic market in the United States. In the state of California, the reasonably expected salary range is between $123,500 [minimum salary in our lowest geographic market within California] to $200,250 [maximum salary in our highest geographic market within California].
Outside of California, the reasonably expected salary range is between $102,000 [minimum salary in our lowest US geographic market outside of California] to $190,250 [maximum salary in our highest US geographic market outside of California].
We carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including but not limited to experience; job-related skill sets; relevant education or training; and other business and organizational needs. The salary range listed is for the level at which this job has been scoped. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for a competitive equity ownership, and a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
