Senior Data Scientist (LLM)

Overview

Everything in America is delivered by truck - and at Parade, we’re changing the way that happens. Before Parade, our customers spent hours trying to find and book trucks to cover their freight. Parade’s machine learning and workflow tools automate the matching and booking process. We’re just getting started in how we transform full truck freight and we’re looking for an inspired Data Scientist to join our team.

We’re looking for a data scientist with strong analytical, technical and communication skills. You’ll need experience in statistical analysis and modeling. The ability to communicate and work across multiple stakeholders will be critical: you’ll need to work with both customers and our entire team from engineers to the CEO. We’re a small team that moves fast so you’ll need to be self-starting and embrace ambiguity - and we’ll make sure you get the coaching and support to thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product and engineering teams to build models solving customer problems, such as matching freight shipments to interested carriers
  • Continue development of a LLM-based system for automating email interactions with carriers
  • Define what it means to be a data scientist at Parade and build a data-driven, customer-focused culture.

What Success Would Look Like in Your First Few Months

  • With the help of the team, you’ve shipped updates to our core models (LLM-based and otherwise)
  • You’re in meetings with customers to understand their specific problems and how Parade can build data-driven products to solve them

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with query and scripting languages (e.g. Python, SQL, etc.)
  • 4+ years working experience as a data scientist
  • Algorithm and model development experience
  • Proven ability to communicate technical, data-driven concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience as a data scientist
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, computer science, statistics, or related fields
  • Experience designing and evaluating LLM-based systems leveraging techniques such as Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), fine-tuning, and prompt engineering.
  • Experience partnering with engineering teams to deploy models
  • Experience working directly with customers on model development. Able to translate customer problems into data science problems

Perks

  • Competitive salary and compensation package with full Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits
  • 401k plan to help you save for the future
  • UNLIMITED Paid Time Off - and we want you to use it!
  • 100% Remote
  • Company Offsites to get to know your teammates

 Compensation

The expected on-target compensation for this role is between $170,000-$200,000 for work performed in the United States. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include experience level, transferable skills, education, location, business needs, training, and market demands. This range may be modified in the future.
