At Faire, the Data Science team is responsible for creating and maintaining a diverse range of algorithms and models that power our marketplace. We are dedicated to building machine learning models that help our customers thrive.

As a Data Scientist on the Brand team, you will develop the intelligence behind our efforts to acquire high value brands and improve their early lifecycle performance. This includes being responsible for our “selection science” workstream, developing an understanding of the gaps in our marketplace’s supply in order to better estimate the incremental value of specific products and brands. It also includes developing models that prioritize the highest value brands to acquire, designing incentives and nudges to encourage high quality shop setup, and working with our Discovery team to improve exploration of new brands and products.

Our team already includes experienced Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers from Square, Airbnb, Uber, Facebook, and Pinterest. Faire will soon be known as a top destination for data scientists and machine learning, and you will help take us there! 

 

What you’ll do 

  • Act as the DS pod lead and thought partner for Brand Growth
  • Develop models and experimental methods to understand how well the marketplace’s selection is matching customer demand and estimate the incremental value of acquiring specific products and brands.
  • Use a combination of internal and external signals to identify and acquire the brands that will add the most value to the marketplace.
  • Optimize the early lifecycle of new brands. Develop nudges and incentives for brands to set up high quality shops and iterate on the requirements for brands to activate and be featured.
  • Improve our methods for cold start ranking and exploration of new brands and products.
  • Tackle complex issues inherent in managing a two-sided marketplace. Your ability to identify and address these challenges will be critical to our continued growth and success.

 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of industry experience using machine learning to solve real-world problems, and a history of accomplishment and advancement in your Data Science career
  • Resourcefulness and proactiveness: track record for executing independent projects and leading complex, cross-functional projects with dependencies
  • Strong communication skills: can effectively and patiently work with others in a closely collaborative team environment. 
  • Exceptional product and business sense
  • An excitement and willingness to learn new tools and techniques
  • Proficiency with Python and SQL

 

Salary Range

California / New York: the pay range for this role is $177,500 - $244,000 per year.

Colorado / Washington / New Jersey: the pay range for this role is $160,000 - $220,000 per year.

Actual base pay will be based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for equity and benefits.
