Consumer auto insurance is a competitive industry, and providing a world-class customer experience is essential to differentiate ourselves from the competition. This team lives at the heart of our promise to “unbreak” auto insurance and deliver that world-class experience. Our product analytics team works alongside product owners, designers, and engineers to ideate, analyze, test, and decide how to improve our product offerings at Root best. As a Lead Analyst, you will lead research on critical business questions. You are expected to be an independent thinker who seeks out opportunities and challenges Root’s current methods.
Root is a “work where it works best” company. Meaning we will support you working in whatever location that works best for you across the US. We will continue to have our headquarters in Columbus and offices in other locations to give more flexibility and more choice about how we live and work.
Salary Range: $109,500 - $135,000
How You Will Make an Impact
Set OKRs across the analytics and product teams
Research overarching business problems and identify areas of opportunity for additional investment
Partner with our product management team and our claims operations team to define the product strategy
Provide thought leadership around testing methodology and analytical tools leveraging data for operational excellence
Build dashboards, reports, and alert systems for the ongoing analysis and monitoring of claim lifecycle events
Mentor junior analysts on best practices and how to decompose complex problems
Foster an attitude of ownership mentality across teams
Conduct cost-benefit analyses of new vendor products
Develop data models and collaborate with the engineering team to enhance analysis and monitoring
What You Will Need to Succeed
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field
5+ years of analytics or data science experience in a business environment
In-depth knowledge of the Domain and developing trends
In-depth knowledge of experimental design and statistical techniques
Top notch storytelling skills and an ability to influence executives
Ability to explain technical concepts to less technical audiences
Relentless focus on business outcomes
Comfort in pushing the status quo and utilizing cutting edge analytical techniques
Thrive in a fast-paced work environment; prioritize and execute on the most critical projects
Expert in SQL - able to write structured and efficient queries on large data sets
Experience in R or Python preferred
Superior teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
