The Data Infrastructure team at Wealthsimple consists of software engineers with a diverse set of skills and backgrounds in math, operations research, computer science, engineering, and business. The team is growing and we’re looking for an Engineering Manager who is excited to hire, grow, and lead a team of ~8 engineers and drive Wealthsimple’s Data Infrastructure strategy. 2022 is the year of infrastructure for our Data team and we have ambitious goals! Our focus is around laying out the next iteration of our data platform to enable Wealthsimple to make better decisions.

In this role, you’ll have the impact to:

• Lead and grow a team of engineers as we build the future of financial services
• Set the technical vision for scalable data infrastructure projects
• Establish the roadmap and architecture for Wealthsimple’s next-generation data infrastructure - build and operate large-scale distributed systems such as Airflow, Flink, Kafka, Spark, etc.
• Lead complex technical efforts involving many engineers regarding project impact, product quality, and engineering efficiency
• Partner with stakeholders across R&D teams to drive and resolve data-related technical problems at scale
• Set organizational standards and influence our engineering culture

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Experience building diverse teams and implementing practices that foster an inclusive culture
• Worked with data at scale using distributed platforms such as Airflow, Flink, Kafka, Spark, or similar
• Experience with the design and implementation of high-performance systems having reliable monitoring and logging
• Experience with coding languages such as Java or Python
