At IMO, a core team of clinicians, software developers, and data scientists combine computer science and medical expertise to help patients and healthcare professionals access high quality health information quickly and easily to improve total patient health. We are currently in need of an Associate Data Engineer to join this team!
The Associate Data Engineer will support our software developers, database architects, data analysts, and data scientists on data initiatives. The right candidate will be excited to learn about optimizing or even re-designing our company’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Learn to manage existing data pipelines to implement source ingestion, gathering and logging access data.
- Gain experience with ETL data pipelines & be responsible for the movement of data
- Learn to apply terminology and data knowledge to answer and solve business problems and develop/apply business rules
- Learn to prepare data for downstream applications and products and communicate complex, context-driven information about the data
- Develop working knowledge of some or all of tech stack for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS ‘big data’ technologies.
- Learn to maintain analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics.
- Learn about HIPAA and PII.
- Work with structured, semi-structured data, unstructured data, and involved technologies.
- Utilize platform tools and access patterns and basic data queries.
- Delivers quality product leveraging the values of transparency, inspection, and adaptation in an agile way.
Requirements:
- Familiarity with software development and the willingness and capacity to learn. An enjoyment of technical challenges and eagerness to explore new approaches.
- Willingness to understand IMO's data model and DB structure
- Working knowledge of XML and application toward describing data
- Demonstrate eagerness to understand terminology complexity and interact regularly with content terminology experts
- SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB and Elasticsearch.
- Knowledge of object-oriented/functional scripting languages, such as Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.
- Exposure to working with unstructured datasets and processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management. Familiarity with manipulating, processing, and extracting value from disconnected datasets.
- A desire to learn and work with ETL and BI Dashboard tools, such as Talend, Informatica, Tableau, Looker, etc.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services, such as EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift is a plus.
